A Quick Tour Of Retreat

Retreat includes a bedroom with double bed, a bathroom, a kitchen and a dining - living area which includes two single beds. Retreat will sleep one couple or a family comfortably.

You will enjoy staying in this charming cottage. Retreat includes amenities which are kind to the environment, such as solar-powered electricity, which runs lights and 12 volt fans but will not accommodate regular 110 volt household appliances. Retreat is not air conditioned. Your hot water is heated by propane and delivered by a pressure pump. In addition, a modern and convenient propane gas refrigerator will cool your food.

On Your Arrival

You will fly into Marsh Harbour, which is located 185 miles East of Miami, Florida. 100 miles South East of Freeport, and 100 miles North East of Nassau. U.S. Air or American Airlines are the most dependable. Taxis meet all planes at Marsh Harbour and the drivers will take you wherever you need to go for groceries or supplies. After you have your supplies, have the taxi take you to your boat rental for your run straight to Lubbers Quarters.

A boat is essential while vacationing in the Abacos. Sea Horse Marine and Island Marine are located conveniently for your run to Lubbers (see our Info page for links). Rental boats have a V.H.F. radio that will enable you to make restaurant and excursion inquiries as well as contact our caretaker.

Dress in the Abacos is casual, meaning that since everyone travels by boat, shorts, shirts, and slacks are the usual attire. When going out for dinner a simple dress or slacks are acceptable.

Marsh Harbour on Great Abaco Island will be to the West; Parrot Cay and Elbow Cay will be to the North. In your boat you'll find Retreat to be 5 minutes from White Sound, 10 minutes from HopeTown, 20 minutes from Marsh Harbour, and 20 minutes from the underwater parks at Sandy Cay and Fowl Cay. Guides for ocean and reef fishing are available in Hope Town. Diving may also be arranged by contacting your caretaker.
